Corona test

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease that is related to the respiratory tract. This disease is brought about by a new form of the virus (SARS-CoV-2) that has now been found in different parts of the globe including the US.

COVID 19 Impact

It all began on January 30, 2020, when the World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) and this was followed by the declaration of Public Health Emergency (PHE) by the Health and Human Services to ease the process of the nation’s healthcare community in responding to COVID-19.

Though WHO has not yet declared that the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 is a pandemic infection, it has confirmed that the virus is likely to spread to most of the countries if not all the countries. As of March 9, 2020, the effect of this deadly virus has been reported in 73 countries across the globe.

It was a horror to watch Italy becoming the epicenter for the further spreading of this virus. While the health ministers across the globe are struggling to implement appropriate measures to slow down the process of spreading, their actions have gone in vain since it is slow and insufficient.

This virus has been challenging countries that fall under low and middle-income countries. The major fear that these countries are facing is that how the countries with weak health systems will cope with the situation.

It’s a hard reality that countries like sub-Saharan Africa and countries across Latin- America and the Middle Eastern countries are not at all prepared for an epidemic of the Coronavirus.

It is high time that the respective political leaders should speed up their process and start working more aggressively. They should understand the fact that this Coronavirus is not gentle. It is brutal. It kills.

COVID 19 Outbreak

Though the national governments have released guides for health care professionals, the published advice is insufficient. Guidance on how to manage patients with COVID 19 must be delivered urgently to health care workers in the form of workshops, online teaching, smartphone engagement, and peer to peer induction.

Equipment such as personal protective equipment, ventilators, oxygen, and testing kits must be made available and supply chains should be strengthened.

High-income countries, now facing their outbreaks, must take reasoned risks and act more decisively. They must abandon their fears of the negative short-term public and economic consequences that may follow from restricting public freedoms as part of more assertive infection control measures.

At Genesis, we are approved by FDA to test for COVID 19 and have added a new test service that aids the presumptive detection of nucleic acid in respiratory specimens of patients meeting CDC’s clinical criteria for COVID 19.

The detection of the virus includes testing the respiratory specimen for the detection of the viral RNA. The specimens are collected at hospitals and physician’s places. The results are available within 72 hours. So if you or your loved ones are found to have symptoms like cough, fever cold, etc., get tested for Genesis Respiratory Pathogen panel testing (RPP).
